Mostafa Gandomkar’s ‘Alan’ on Syrian and Iraqi refugees has qualified to represent Iran at Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival in Brazil.

‘Alan’ will vie at the Brazilian festival alongside short films from Brazil and around the world during the event’s 28th year.

The Iranian short film made its international debut at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival held February 3-11, 2017 in France.

“Many Kurdish people have lost their homes and families in ISIS attacks. This is the story of one of them,” a festival catalogue described ‘Alan’.

Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival is one of the world’s largest and most traditional events dedicated to short films.

Held in the city of Sao Paulo since 1990, it has become a landmark in the city’s cultural agenda for its broad and diverse programming.

The 28th Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival will be held from August 23 through September 3, 2017 in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.
